Our Story
Framing Expressions was started by Nancy Page and Ginny Gera in 2015. Both had previously been working at the Glenwood branch of the Main Street Gallery based in Carbondale, and when the owners opted to close the second location, Nancy and Ginny decided to start their own venture: Framing Expressions. Nancy retired in 2021, and in June 2026 Ginny retired and sold the business to current owner Leanna Taylor.
Leanna was framing in Virginia for 5 years before moving to Glenwood Springs to take over Framing Expressions. She moved with her two dogs, Ozzie and Finn, who share the crown of Employee of the Month and you can look forward to meeting them at the shop. They may or may not guilt you into a treat from the goody jar. (That said, if you prefer to have a canine-free visit to the shop, please just call ahead and the dogs will be secured in the back prior to your arrival.)
In addition to framing, Leanna is a portrait and wildlife artist specializing in charcoal and pastels. You can view her personal website and read more about her background here
The Shop
My goal as a custom framer is not just to make your art look beautiful, but to keep it safe and preserved for years to come. A sampling of the materials and methods I use at the shop include:
Solid wood and metal mouldings - no plastic or MDF
Acid-free mats and foamcore
UV-filtering glass and acrylic to prevent fading (with anti-reflective museum options available)
Archival mounting processes
Spacers to prevent artwork from bonding to glass.
Pin-mounting needlework and hand sewing jerseys and other fiber pieces.
Whether you want modern, rustic, colorful, metallic, funky, traditional, or minimal - with around 2000 moulding options from 10+ different suppliers, we’re sure to find the perfect match for your artwork.
While I specialize in custom sizes, I also offer an assorted selection of standard size frames (4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, 16×20, and 18×24 inches). These frames are offered at a significant discount over ordering custom sizes.
Framing Expressions is proud to display artwork by 4 Colorado-based artists. Check out the gallery wall for original works and framed prints by:
Nicole Horn (Sedalia) - oil
H. Lee Shapiro (Basalt) - watercolor
Johnny Sedlmayer (Glenwood Springs) - watercolor and Ink
Leanna Dayle (Glenwood Springs) - charcoal and pastel

Frequently Asked Questions

Giving quotes on the phone or over email is difficult as every mat, frame, and glazing type has a different cost. The best way to give you an estimate is for you to bring in your art and I can show you different options. Consultations at the shop are always free.
If budget is a primary consideration in your framing, please let me know at the beginning of our consultation so I can show you frames and mats that I know to be more ‘wallet-friendly’.

Welcome, first timer!
For your consultation, all you need to bring is your art, and any ideas or inspiration for what kind of framing you want. Don’t know what kind of framing you want? Fret not! I am more than happy to offer suggestions and give you different options.
Once we’ve narrowed down our selection, I’ll write up a quote and let you decide if you’re ready to move forward. If you are, I’ll ask for a 50% deposit and you’ll leave your art with me so I can get the magic started. In 2-3 weeks you’ll get a call letting you know your work is ready.
Need more time to decide? No problem - consultations are free with no expectation of a commitment. I can save your selections in my system, so all the info will be ready for if/when you decide you want to move forward with the order.

I can be available to meet you at the shop by appointment on Sundays and Mondays. I am also happy to come in before 10 or stay after 5 if I know you’re coming. Please call the shop or email if you need to schedule a time outside my regular hours.

Yes, I stretch canvases.
I am a one-person shop (the dogs lack opposable thumbs and are therefore useless when it comes to canvas stretching), so I am not able to stretch extremely large canvases. What qualifies as ‘extremely large’ is a bit variable, depending on the combined height/width. Your best bet is to call with the exact dimensions.

Yes.

Most ‘normal’ jobs take about 2-3 weeks. I can accommodate rush jobs on a case by case basis.

In many cases, yes. I can repair wooden frames that have come apart at the corners. If there are dents or chips from a fall, the corners may not come together as nicely as they were originally. I often say “I can’t make it look new again but I can make it structurally sound”.
While I can do minor cosmetic touch-ups, I cannot repair carving work or fill in gold leafing or other metallic finishes.
